Position Summary:

This position is responsible for a variety of tasks that facilitate the provision of food services and nutrition support to patients, employees, and visitors. These duties include a variety of functions including prepping, storing, and displaying cold food items, maintaining dish room operations, sanitizing and stocking supplies, running cash register and cash reports, and transporting carts and trays. This position will assist in the preparation and cooking of foods.  Also Responsible for maintaining a clean supply of small equipment for production area and for maintaining  a clean supply of dishes and utensils. 


Primary Duties:

  • Prepares food items, such as sandwiches, salads, soups, and beverages.
  • Prepares and/or cooks food items for patients or residents, staff, visitors and special functions following standardized recipes and acceptable methods of preparation.
  • Apportions and places food servings on plate according to diet list for special selections and nourishments.
  • Pushes carts to halls or unit kitchen when necessary.
  • Washes dishes and cleans work area, tables and storerooms.
  • Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers.
  • Assists with special functions and catering.
  • Procedures foodstuffs from refrigerators, freezers or other storage areas.
  • Cashiers efficiently and with speed.
  • Cashing out procedures are followed properly.
  • Sorts and washes all dishes from cafeteria and patient rooms, utilizing prescribed infection control procedures.
  • Records dish machine rinse temperatures at each meal washing service.
  • Sorts, scrubs and disinfects all pots and pans utilizing prescribed infection control procedures.

Qualifications/Specifications:

  • Education: High school graduate or GED required.
  • Experience: One year in food service required. Hospital dietary experience preferred.
