Dr. Amy Beard grew up along the banks of the Mississippi River in Helena, AR. She received her B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Central Arkansas in 1995 and then completed a dietetic internship at UAMS in Little Rock the following year. She worked as a Registered Dietitian for several years before deciding to pursue a degree in medicine. She graduated from UAMS College of Medicine in 2009 and then completed a Family Medicine residency in 2012. Dr. Beard has worked as an ER physician for several years, and she currently has her own private practice. She specializes in Functional Medicine, and is one of only 10 MD-Dietitian- Functional Medicine specialists in the country. She joined AR Heart Hospital in the spring of 2016 as the Medical Director for Strong Hearts Cardiac Rehab. During her free time Dr. Beard enjoys most any outdoor activity—hiking, skiing, biking, shing. She has been an avid cyclist for 25 years. She also enjoys organic gardening on her farm in Paron and spending time with her canine family members, Junior and Cookie.
